COMMERCIAL WINTER MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST

Preparing before temperatures fall can make winter maintenance easier to manage. Use this checklist as a starting point and adapt it to the risks and operating requirements of each site.

Before winter

• Review the site risk assessment
• Map vehicle and pedestrian treatment areas
• Identify entrances, ramps, steps and known cold spots
• Agree weather and treatment triggers
• Confirm contractor contacts and escalation arrangements
• Plan snow storage and clearance priorities

During freezing weather

• Review forecast conditions
• Check that planned treatments have been completed
• Escalate snowfall or rapidly changing conditions
• Keep critical access routes prioritised
• Retain service records

Use consistent standards where practical while maintaining a site-specific plan for each location. Central reporting and digital service records can simplify oversight.
